Alright so here's the thing. I was thinking the other day, about the worst job in the world. Not necessarily for everybody... but for me specifically. What is an occupation that doesn't even slightly interest you? Something that you would dread doing every day?
For me, it's being a mortician.
I mean, think about it- it's creepy. Putting makeup on dead people? No thanks.
Morticians may make a nice amount of money, but they have to spend their days touching the cold, clammy bodies of complete strangers. Dead bodies have an ill effect on people in general, so a person who surrounds himself with the nonliving day after day probably ends up looking and feeling like death warmed over... no pun intended.
Besides, who do you possibly have to talk to? Can you just imagine the lively (haha! I slay me!) conversations?
Moritian: "Why, Mrs. Pierce- may I say you're looking better than ever."
Mrs. Pierce: ------------------------- *silence* -----------------------------
Mortician: "Ha! You old card, you always say that!"
Not anymore, she doesn't. At least, I hope not
People could go pretty crazy talking to themselves all the time like that.
"So... how 'bout them Red Sox?" Oh yeah- it probably gets worse than that, too.
Picture the dinnertime talks with the missus:
"My day was alright, thanks- just learned that Mrs. Pierce does not favor winter shades, if you catch my drift..."
Uh... no. No one caught that, and frankly, no one wants to.
Yes, the life of a mortician seems pretty morbid and lonely, to be honest. It's not something I could even think of doing during my most desperate phase in life. Morticians are kind of like rejected beauticians... not quite good enough to work on the living.
I mean, hell- if you make a mistake, who's gunna complain? Ya know what I'm saying?
Clearly, the all-out creepiness of this occupation is blatantly evident.
In fact, there's only one thing worse than being a moritician...
...being the client of a mortician.

Oh boy
I'm a fairly visual person so I just saw all those conversations that you told about....very creepy indeed
Wow how did I miss this entry? Reminds me of a story from my mother aabout during her time in the WRENS. She was given an assignment to help out in the morgue... she didnt like it but did itanyway like true soldier. Her job was to help with the make up of the "deceased". Well one day shes working on a man and turned around to get something and when she turned back the "deceased" was half sitting up. (she found out later that it was a tighting of the stomache muscles that caused this. Very common she was told. Needless to say her request for a transfer went in that very afternoon. Thanks for stopping by and MERRY TREES to you and yours and all the best in '05! Wil and THE
