Alright good friends!
How are we all today? I'm going to hope that we're all well. I for one, am doing ok this morning. My weekend was too short and I'd much rather be home sleeping- but all in all- I'm ok.
The brakes on my car went out yesterday!! Luckily, I wasn't driving it at the time. Nonetheless, I have to ride the bus to school until it gets fixed. Joy, joy.
I'm in second hour right now- which is my Journalism class. May I just say that you never truly appreciate the freedom of your car until you are forced to go back and ride the bus with the childish neanderthals you'd so willingly left behind.
Oh believe me, friends- it's soooo true!!
A random thought- remind me sometime in the near future to tell you all about my adventures with the metal detector! It's a bit of a long story, and frankly- I haven't the time at the present. It's a funny one though, that's for sure!
In other news- I've been watching Australian Idol lately... well not the actual show- but the weekly video clips posted on the website. It passes the time when I'm bored, and it's also something to keep me connected with Idol of any form while I wait for the American season to start in January.
So, my Australian compadres (or should I say mates?) know exactly what it is I'm speaking of- and everyone else is kind of like "huh?" but that's alright. I know what I'm talking about- and that's part of what helps me sleep at night.
As another random thought: Mil Millington is bloody brilliant!! I love his humor, and thoroughly enjoy reading his novels. I'm halfway through his second book A Certain Chemistry and I just cannot put it down.
For those of you unfamiliar with Mil, I encourage you to check out his nothing-shy-of-hilarious-website
Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About .
Just visit there if you get the time and give the site a browse. Chances are, when you're finished you'll be visiting your local bookstore!! Oh, and incidently- if you're already convinced that Mr. Millington is sheer magic and need no more evidence of this obvious fact, scroll to the very bottom of the site and all of his book information will be there, including how to purchase the book in different countries and languages.
And while I'm promoting books, might I recommend Alison Lurie's Foreign Affairs. Now, maybe it's because I'm actually partial to foreigners (
) or maybe it's because Ms. Lurie is just a great writer... or maybe it's a bit of both, but let me tell you- that is one hell of a book, people!
To check a bit more into the background of this Pulitzer Prize winner, allow me to direct you here. You can even read the first 5 or so pages of the book and see if it catches your interest. We have that book here at my school library- and I completely found it by chance. Am sure glad I did though!!
Ok, I've given enough publicity to these guys, wouldn't ya say? I'm thinking I should get a percentage of sales or some royalties or something!! I'll have to write that down, that's not a bad idea...
Hehe- I should probably go and do some actual work now. This yearbook certainly won't edit itself.
And by the way, my darlings- have a wonderful Monday.
Hugs and Love,
- Ms. L
The bus is a terrible thing, indeed. Especially when you mix us moody high schoolers with yappy little first graders. It gets ugly.
