Hello all.
Welcome to my newly changed- super logiferic journal. Enjoy it tons. Lol. Today was the start of a new school year.
That's right, folks- I will be posting a bit less unfortunately, now that the school year has begun. I have obligations, ya know.
Yesterday I cut and highlighted my hair... well actually- my dad did. I figured, "why pay for a bad haircut I can give myself." Famous last words.
I asked that it just be a straight line... down around my shoulders. What I got was a straight line- up around my chin. It's the difference of almost 4 inches. And what I think happened was my father made a mistake with the scissors and figured "maybe she won't notice."
Fat chance, daddy-o.
So I mourned the loss of my hair. I practically cried, is more like it. I hated it at first- but then decided to just work with it, and it looks a lot better. At least, that's what they tell me.

---------------------------------------
But school- that's what you really want to hear, right? It was all pretty simpatico. I did have a really funny experience with my Economics teacher. Allow me to share it with you.
I walk in, see some familiar faces- and some not so familiar faces. It's nice to be a senior though- believe you me.
Anyway- Teach is talking to the class. But it's not just the cursory first-day drivel. Oh no. This is much more deep... this is success, and families... this, my friends- is life.
"We live" he says "in an era that's focused on the "It's not my fault" philosophy. We, as a nation, as the world, need to stray from this narrow minded field of view. We need to focus instead, on our success as people, both individually and in groups."
He's pacing the room- working the crowd. He thinks he's good- what a guy, lecturing such grandiose dogma on the first day! He stops short.
"87% of our high schools in this county are failing to have a majority of graduating seniors. How sad that is. If we stressed the importance of literacy, of college- of success... the numbers would be so much smaller. We need structure- we need stricter teachers and parents- we need to put forth the effort, to gear you kids toward the greater goal in life. I'm tired of seeing former students, and I.." he laughs obnoxiously "...have been teaching for 20 years- I'm tired of seeing former students working for $10 dollars an hour to make ends meet and pay the child support they owe to two separate women."
My first thought-
at least they're working and not asking for hand outs.
He continues. "We need people who know how to read and write, and spell and comprehend. People who understand the importance of the English language. People who understand responsibility and get that college degree or that license and do the work that will make them successful. People who are LITERATE."
And he writes on the board- I kid you not, in huge bold lettering:
Responsibility= Degree or Lisence. Is that not the irony of the century?
